Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa have finally reached an agreement over the signing of winger Donyell Malen.
A final agreement on a transfer fee was the only major detail that needed to be agreed upon to allow Malen to swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League. Now that barrier has been passed and only small details need to be finalised before he can move.
Malen will join Villa for a base fee of €25m and €5m on add-ons, with €3m guaranteed which will take the total to €30m if all add-ons are met. This means that Dortmund could recoup the whole €30m they spent on Malen in 2021 when he joined from PSV Eindhoven. Since moving from his homeland, Malen has been too inconsistent and very rarely delivered on the promise that came with his signature nearly four years ago.
As the deal is nearly complete, the 25-year-old will not travel with Dortmund to Kiel for their Bundesliga match on Tuesday evening in the North of Germany.
The sale of Malen will also allow Dortmund to upgrade their squad with James McAtee, Renato Veiga and Carney Chukwuemeka all linked with a move to the Signal Iduna Park.
