According to Florian Plettenberg, Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Pascal Groß.
It had previously been reported that, despite their best efforts, Dortmund were yet to find an agreement with the Premier League outfit regarding a deal for Groß.
However, as stated in the report, a total agreement between the two clubs has now been reached. It is understood that Die Schwarzgelben’s €10 million package for the German international was deemed suitable by Brighton.
Dortmund will pay an upfront fee of €7 million with €3 million in future bonuses. A medical is expected to take place as soon as possible, either in Dortmund or Bad Ragaz.
During his seven-year stint on the Sussex coast, Groß featured 261 times for the Seagulls, scoring 32 goals and collecting 52 assists. As well as this, the 33-year-old endeared himself to the Brighton faithful, establishing himself as one of the club’s all-time greatest players.
His form for Brighton eventually helped lead the club to the Europa League, forcing the German national team to offer Groß the chance to feature on the international stage.
Despite his call-up potentially coming later than it should have, Groß has been able to display his quality for club and country, earning a move to Dortmund, where, for the first time in his career, he will be able to play Champions League football.
