Getting the ball rolling for Sunday’s Bundesliga entertainment was the all-green clash of Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen. Ole Werner’s side came into the fixture searching their first away result of the season. Rafael Borre’s second-half header ensured Die Werderaner would return with a well-earned point after a 2-2 draw.

In what was an evenly contested first-half, it was visitors Bremen who broke the deadlock inside a handful of minutes. Lacroix’s foul surrendered the opportunity and Marvin Ducksch duly obliged curling his freekick in with the aid of Pervan’s post. While the lively Vaclav Cerny threatened early on, it was Pervan’s save to deny Schmid on the half hour that kept it at 1-0.
Cervy wouldn’t be deterred as the half wore on and in the 37th minute he dragged Die Wolfe level at 1-1. Joackim Maehle somewhat fortuitous as his cross deflected into the Czech’s path off Marco Friedl.
Bremen started the sharper of the two after the interval, but Wolfsburg would find the net before the hour mark to lead 2-1. Some fine work from Wind created space for his compatriot Maehle. The Danish full-back crossed for the centrally positioned Majer who’s deft flick landed at Paredes to guide home with ease.
However, the host’s lead would be wiped out inside minutes. As is so often the case, Mitchell Weiser delivered the inch-perfect cross and Rafael Borre steered low past Pervan with a precise header. Having been booked earlier on, Lacroix received his marching orders when he felled Njinmah with 2 minutes remaining, but his dismissal did little to alter the game’s outcome.
