The WWE’s reign as professional wrestling’s number-one company is an honour they’ve had since the 1950s. Elevated to unforeseen heights under the business-minded Vince McMahon, the company has remained fairly untouched over the years, with their notable lows coming from their own questionable product and not competition.

However, that isn’t to say people haven’t tried. In recent times, All Elite Wrestling has provided wrestling fans with an alternative with its sports-focused approach to professional wrestling. A name that gave WWE their toughest battle yet is World Championship Wrestling, better known as WCW.

A product that aired on TBS, similar to AEW, the Ted Turner-backed company had a competitive run in the business. Using a healthy balance of homegrown stars and ex-WWE wrestlers, their run of 83 weeks on top during the Monday Night Wars consequently caused the WWE to buck their ideas up and begin the iconic Attitude Era.

With numerous stars working during this era of wrestling, from Stone Cold Steve Austin to Hulk Hogan, one star who thrived in both companies was Booker T. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, one-half of the legendary Harlem Heat revealed who he has on his WCW Mount Rushmore.

The Hall of Famer wasn’t shy about giving himself his flowers

Booker T can currently be found narrating the work of upcoming stars on NXT as a highly entertaining addition to the commentary table. However, before he was watching over the stars of tomorrow, he was one himself. The most decorated wrestler in WCW history, with 21 titles to his name, including one reign as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, the legend is well-positioned to discuss icons of the business.

Working in WCW from 1993 to 2001, Booker spent the first four years as one-half of Harlem Heat, a tag team with his real-life brother Stevie Ray. The team were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019, owing to their success back in the day, with Booker having already had a solo induction in 2013.

With a litany of gold to his name and iconic moments in WCW and WWE, Booker reflected on all the legends he encountered during his formative years in the business. Placing himself on his own Mount Rushmore, he revealed to Chris Van Vliet the three other names that he puts on the same level as him.

“I got a picture on my wall at home, somebody painted it, and it’s the WCW Mount Rushmore, and it’s Goldberg, Sting, [Diamond] Dallas Paige and Booker T. For my time, that is a pretty good Mount Rushmore.”

There is a difference between confidence and arrogance, something Booker is aware of. Aware that his WCW career was as illustrious as possible, he rightly placed himself on his Mount Rushmore. A quartet of stars that got their start in the business in WCW, he notably omits Ric Flair, Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan from his list, deciding not to include any WWE defects.

Goldberg’s run in WCW is storied. Moving on from the NFL, the Hall of Famer decided to utilise his bulky frame in the squared circle. Going on a legendary unbeaten streak, his squash matches were must-watch at the time. Allegedly achieving a streak of 173-0 before finally losing, a number that is rumoured to be exaggerated, his work in WCW is not, with his work helping WCW dominate the Monday Night Wars.

From one main event star to another, Sting isn’t just a WCW legend but a professional wrestling legend. Having ended his career at AEW in 2024, his story began three decades earlier in WCW. Cutting his teeth in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), the icon would feud with the Four Horsemen during the beginning of the 1990s before moving onto WCW and the World Title scene. A six-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, his work in the company set him up to succeed in TNA, WWE and AEW.

A name that has been getting his flowers more recently, Diamond Dallas Paige, is a real-life hero. Spending his time training and aiding the worn-down stars of yesteryear, he has successfully brought about a comfortable way of living to many names who were once in pain. Deserving of a place on any Mount Rushmore for his work outside the ring, he was just as legendary inside the squared circle. Spending a decade in WCW, his work over the years was validated with several title runs, notably three reigns as World Champion.
