Werder Bremen will have to manage without Victor Boniface when they face FC Augsburg in their final match of the calendar year on Saturday, according to Bild.
The 24-year-old Bayer Leverkusen loanee also missed last week’s 0-4 defeat to VfB Stuttgart due to a knee contusion.
According to the club, he completed an individual indoor training session on Wednesday.
So far, Boniface’s loan spell at Werder has not gone according to plan, with the striker yet to score in 11 appearances.
Despite this, Werder have no plans to cut the loan short.
“We’re not considering ending a loan prematurely. Even with Boni, an early termination is not an issue. So far, he hasn’t approached us with any such thoughts,” said Werder Bremen’s managing director of professional football, Clemens Fritz.
