Bologna have found their Joshua Zirkzee replacement in Toulouse’s Thijs Dallinga.
According to a report by Alfredo Pedulla, Bologna are set to announce the signing of forward Thijs Dallinga in the next few days. The Emilian club have reached an agreement with Ligue 1 side Toulouse on a €18 million plus bonuses deal as the player is set to become a direct successor to Zirkzee’s position.
The Rossoblu kept this operation under the radar and they received negligible competition to secure the player. The 23-year-old is less of a creator and more of a clinical expert in front of the goal.
He had a fabulous scoring record during the 2020-21 season at Excelsior in the Dutch second division, where he netted 36 times in 44 games. He moved to Toulouse the following campaign, scoring 18 and 19 times in the first and second seasons respectively.
Dallinga combines physicality with technique in his gameplay and is good with ball progression. Unlike Zirkzee, he compensates for his lack of technical prowess with a lethal eye for the goal.
