Bologna interested in Al-Ahly’s Mohamed Abdelmonem

Serie A outfit Bologna have expressed an interest in signing Al-Ahly’s Mohamed Abdelmonem.

According to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio, Bologna are working to provide new head coach Vincenzo Italiano with the necessary assets for the upcoming season and they have started quoting Al-Ahly defender Mohamed Abdelmonem over a possible transfer this summer.

The Rossoblu are yet to make contact with the Egyptian international but talks are set to be initiated soon as the transfer window draws to its conclusion.

The 25-year-old starred last season with Al-Ahly where he played 21 league games, scoring one goal and producing stellar defensive performances, and has featured 12 times in the African Champions League. With the Egyptian national team, Abdelmonem has registered 25 appearances, netting twice.

Bologna have already landed their Joshua Zirkzee replacement in Thijs Dallinga, who is set to train with the squad this week. The Emilian club are probing other players around Europe to make a considerable showing in the Champions League next season.
