On Thursday, chief personnel boss Fredi Bobic revealed that Marvin Plattenhardt’s expiring contract will not be extended.
In the final analysis, however, it appears as if Bobic and the front office staff considered Plattenhardt’s persistent struggles with abductor problems too risky to merit further commitment. Speaking to the German tabloid, Bobic unequivocally stated that the player and his representatives had been informed of the decision.
It shall prove interesting to see if Schwarz continues to allow Plattenhardt to wear the armband during what shapes up to be a tough relegation fight. Other candidates to lead the team, league watchers have noted, include French midfielder Lucas Tousart and veteran defender Marc Oliver Kempf.
