After the contract extension of Manuel Neuer today, the odds of Alexander Nubel remaining at VfB Stuttgart for another loan spell beyond next season are increasingly likely, according to BILD.
In an agreement made between the Swabian club and Bayern Munich, a clause exists whereby the Bavarian giants can bring the German shot-stopper back to the club early if activated by April 30th, 2025.
However, Die Rekordmeister have since signed the highly rated Jonas Urbig from FC Köln.
The 21-year-old who has already represented Germany at underage level penned a contract until the summer of 2029.
The idea is that once Nubel’s loan expires after the 2025/26 season, he will return to Bayern and compete with Urbig for the No.1 jersey.
The goalkeeping saga at Bayern Munich continues to take twists as Manuel Neuer is showing no signs of relinquishing his starting spot despite four other goalkeepers on the books including Nubel on loan, Urbig, Daniel Peretz and Sven Ulreich.
