Niclas Füllkrug was absent for Germany’s first training session in Qatar today, as he has fallen ill.
“Niclas has a virus,” said Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff at a press conference today and continued:
“I can’t make a confident diagnosis of how long he’ll be out. We’re looking at how he is, hour by hour. I think that there’s enough time for him to be ready to play.”
On the bright side for Germany, Thomas Müller was back in training today after a spell on the sidelines.
Germany play their first World Cup game against Japan on Wednesday.
