Beşiktaş’s initial bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri has been turned down, Kicker understands.
The attacking midfielder has struggled for game time at Bayer and only featured from the 78th minute in the side’s opening matchday defeat in Dortmund.
The five-time German international has been a candidate for sale this summer but an agreement between both clubs has still a long way to go.
Last season, the 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Italian side Genoa where he played just 13 times.
Amiri joined Bayer in 2019 when the club paid Hoffenheim €9m for his services.
It’s believed that B04 would like to get some, if not all, of the money they invested into the player.
When speaking about Amiri’s possible departure, Bayer head coach Gerardo Seoane explained: “If something comes up for him that convinces him, I can imagine that he will do it too.”
In recent weeks Seoane has also admitted that Amiri is “committed, but he still lacks the rhythm.”
If Bayer were to sell Amiri as well as Joel Pohjanpalo, who has been linked with a possible move to Köln, it raise further funds for more reinforcements.
