According to Foot Mercato, Beşiktaş have opened talks with Chelsea over the signing of out-of-favour centre-back Malang Sarr (24).
Sarr endured a difficult loan spell at AS Monaco last season, struggling to get a game before seeing his campaign curtailed by an injury. As a result, the Principality club chose not to exercise the purchase option in the former OGC Nice centre-back loan deal, and he therefore returned to Chelsea.
A lot changed at Chelsea during his time in Ligue 1, and upon his return to the Premier League club, the signing of Benoît Badiashile and the return of Levi Colwill pushed Sarr even further down the pecking order. It was hoped that a departure would happen in the summer, but ultimately no offers matched Sarr’s expectations.
However, Sarr could leave in January. The Frenchman is in discussions with the hierarchy at Beşiktaş, who have decided to drop many key players from their team. For now, nothing is advanced although negotiations between the relevant parties are ongoing. Sarr’s Chelsea contract runs until June 2025.
