This Saturday’s Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin has been called off.
The Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Union, which was due to take place this Saturday, has been postponed due to heavy snowfall.
This was confirmed by the German Football League (DFL) and both clubs this morning.
In a statement, Bayern said that “security risks and the traffic situation made the cancellation unavoidable.”
“Avalanches at the Allianz Arena pose an incalculable risk to spectators. In addition, access to the Allianz Arena is virtually impossible,” the statement said.
“We very much regret that we have to cancel the game, but the safety of our fans and Union Berlin supporters is our absolute priority,” said FC Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
“In addition, access to the Allianz Arena is not guaranteed due to numerous road closures and various public transport disruptions. We will inform you about a potential new date as soon as possible.”
It remains unclear when the game will be played instead. Tickets remain valid for the rescheduled match.
