Bayern Munich’s Lucas Hernandez prioritising PSG transfer

Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez (27) is prioritizing a departure from Bayern Munich to complete a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Last week, reports emerged of an agreement in principle between the 2018 World Cup winner and PSG Sporting advisor Luís Campos. The Marseille-born defender is reportedly determined to play for Les Parisiens. The Ligue 1 champions are in the market for a left-footed centre-back due to the uncertainty surrounding Presnel Kimpembe’s future in the French capital.

Former PSG coach and current Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel said last week he was relying on Hernandez for his first full season in the Allianz Arena dugout next season. The 2020 Champions League winner with the Bavarians missed the better part of the season after sustaining an ACL tear during France’s World Cup opener against Australia.

It remains to be seen whether the departures of club CEO Oliver Kahn and Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidžić would change Hernandez’s stance over his desire to move on. The former Atlético Madrid man is tied to Bayern Munich with a contract set to expire in 2024. Like his fellow countryman and Bayern teammate Benjamin Pavard, Hernandez has set his sights on a new challenge.
