Bild understands that Dayot Upamecano (26) may miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury suffered during the international break.
The centre-back played the whole 120 minutes as France overcame Croatia in the quarter-final of the UEFA Nations League at the Stade de France on Sunday night. He even netted the winning spot-kick to seal France’s progression to the final four, which will take place in the summer.
However, upon his return from international duty, it was revealed that he is set for a period on the sidelines. Bayern Munich have confirmed that the centre-back has loose joints in his left knee, which will require treatment and a period of recovery. The Bavarian side evoked an absence of “several weeks”, whilst Le Parisien evoked a period of absence between five and six weeks, meaning a return sometime in mid-May.
He would, therefore, miss the Quarter-finals and semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, should Bayern Munich go that deep in the competition, however, he would be available should the Bundesliga side reach the final. However, Bild (via L’Équipe) now report that the Frenchman may now miss the rest of the season with the knee problem.
