Bayern Munich will have to do without Leroy Sané for their Bundesliga game against FC Köln on Saturday afternoon after the player’s pubic bone showed an “expected reaction” following their game against Arsenal.
Speaking to media on Friday, Thomas Tuchel offered an update on Sané.
“It’s about how much pain he can tolerate,” said Tuchel (h/t: imiasanmia). “We geared everything towards him being able to play against Arsenal. He was an important factor there and played a great game. Since he showed a reaction, we’re focusing on him on Wednesday.
“The plan is for him to return on Sunday or Monday. But if he plays, he’ll show a reaction again, which will remain the case for the time being, unfortunately.”
Sané played a significant role in Bayern Munich’s draw against Arsenal on Tuesday night, and Bayern’s hope is that the German will be fit to feature at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, with the tie level at 2-2.
Bayern Munich are already without Serge Gnabry for the foreseeable future after the German forward suffered a hamstring injury in the first-leg against the Gunners, which could mean starts for Kingsley Coman and Thomas Müller in midweek.
