As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich consider Max Eberl as the ideal candidate to replace former sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić.
The current RB Leipzig sporting director has been considered a firm favourite of Bayern executive Uli Hoeneß for some time. However, there is still some way to go with they’re to snatch Eberl from the Saxons.
Currently, there are no concrete discussions and a final decision is a long way off.
However, Bayern are ready to play the long game to get their desired sporting director. As per the report, the Bavarian club are willing to wait for Eberl. Even if it means beyond the summer transfer window and into January 2024.
Eberl has only been on the books at Leipzig since December 2022 having previously worked at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Relocating and starting fresh after only six months in a new job will take some careful consideration.
However, the signals are clear from Bayern. They want Eberl and are willing to accommodate him as he makes his decision.
Other potential sporting directors on the list include Markus Krösche from Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Eberl is the clear favourite.
