Bayern Munich broke their transfer record to bring Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to the club. The Englishman’s arrival has certainly created a buzz around the Allianz Arena, which has seen the Rekordmeister have a record day in terms of merchandise income.
As reported by Bild, Bayern Munich sold well over 10,000 Kane shirts online and in stores on Saturday, the day of his arrival. This breaks Bayern’s previous merchandise record from the day of the 2020 Champions League final against PSG.
Hundreds of fans welcomed Kane at Oberpfaffenhofen airport, the player’s medical check and his arrival at Bayern’s Säbener Straße. Kane reportedly signing his contract at 2:00am on Saturday morning and still, fans were waiting outside the office. Fans then flocked to club stores with huge queues forming to buy a Kane jersey.
With over 15 million followers on Instagram, there’s no doubt that Kane is a star. Bayern broke their previous record of €80m – spent on Lucas Hernandez in 2019 – to sign Kane, with a total fee expected to reach a reported €120m including bonuses.
