Bayern Munich loanee Malik Tillman caused outrage during Rangers’ 3-2 Scottish Cup win over Partick Thistle on the weekend, as reported by Kicker.
When the score was level at 1-1, Tillman received treatment following a challenge. In the name of sportsmanship, Partick Thistle were going to throw the ball back in play and kick the ball back to Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.
However, when the ball was thrown back into play, Tillman raced forward, stole it, and put it past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1. Tilman soon found himself on the floor surrounded by several Patrick Thistle players who were outraged at what had just happened.
At the request of Rangers coach Michael Beale, Patrick Thistle were allowed to walk the ball into the Rangers goal from kick-off.
In the defence of Tillman, Beale believes it was all a misunderstanding.
“That was a big misunderstanding, Malik got injured, went out and therefore didn’t see that the ball was played wide,” Beale explained.
So far this season, the 20-year-old forward has scored 7 goals and assisted 4 times in the Scottish Premiership.
