Bayern Munich’s search for a goalkeeper continues but according to Tz, the Rekordmeister have intensified their contact with the entourage of Sevilla’s Bono.
This comes after Real Madrid confirmed the arrival of Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan with no obligation to buy following Thibaut Courtois’s ACL injury.
Bayern Munich have shown interest in Bono for several months but would prefer to sign the Moroccan on loan with a view to Manuel Neuer returning to action in 2024 following his latest surgery. However, Sevilla would prefer to sell the 32-year-old for around €20m but Bayern believe that he isn’t better than Yann Sommer, who joined Inter last week. Per Tz’s report, other financially strong clubs have also enquired about Bono.
Sven Ulreich (35) played Bayern Munich’s first competitive game of the season, a 3-0 defeat against RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup, and he’s the only real back-up to Neuer. Whilst an adequate back-up to Neuer, heading into the opening weekend of the Bundesliga with just one goalkeeper is a problem for Bayern that they need to address.
