As reported by Sky Germany, Bayern Munich are observing Frenkie de Jong’s situation at Barcelona.
Last summer, it was reported that Der Rekordmeister were keen on luring the Dutchman to the Allianz Arena. However, Thomas Tuchel’s desire to sign a number six was not granted by the Bayern board.
While it is unlikely that Tuchel will be in charge next season, a defensive midfielder is still a priority for the record champions. It is understood that de Jong is back on Bayern’s shortlist, but whether a transfer this summer is feasible is not yet known.
Due to the significant salary the 26-year-old would demand, it is unlikely that a move to Bavaria would materialise by the start of next season. However, with de Jong’s contract set to expire in 2026, Bayern could consider making a move for his signature in the near future for a discounted price.
Regardless, it is expected that Bayern will invest heavily in the squad this summer in an attempt to reclaim the Bundesliga title. While Aleksandar Pavlović is undeniably the future of the Bayern midfield, reinforcement will be added this summer to bolster the squad, and a move for de Jong is not out of the picture.
