Bild reports that Bayern Munich and Chelsea are both interested in Atletico Madrid midfield Pablo Barrios, but he is unlikely to come cheap.
Bayern are in the process of shaking up their midfield as the futures of Leon Goretzka and even Joshua Kimmich are up in the air, while João Palhinha has had an injury-hit first six months in Germany. Die Rekordmeister have already brought in Tom Bischof, while Aleksandar Pavlovic continues to go from strength to strength.
However, Bayern faces competition from Chelsea for the 21-year-old, with the Premier League side already willing to spend €70m on Barrios. On top of this, Atleti have no desire to sell the midfielder as he has already become a first-team regular under Diego Simeone.
Considering Bayern are trying to save up to attempt to sign Florian Wirtz, €70m on a midfield they currently do not need seems like an unnecessary move.
This season, Barrios has made 24 appearances across all competitions. The midfielder even got himself sent off against Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League tie earlier this year.
