Bayern make late bid for Tottenham target Dragusin

Bayern Munich have submitted an official offer for Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin, according to Gianluigi Longari.

The Bavarians are rivalling the North Londoners, looking to hijack their deal for the Romanian defender.

Spurs are in the market for a centre-back, and after briefly flirting with the idea of signing Jean-Clair Todibo, they moved for Dragusin, who has been impressive in Serie A this term.

Dragusin has won 70% of his aerial and 67% of his ground duels, earning plaudits for his imposing performances.

The 21-year-old was seemingly on his way to join Tottenham, but Bundesliga champions Bayern showed interest. They have been circling the deal and have now submitted a proposal to the Serie A side.

Tottenham had agreed to a €25 million deal with Genoa for the player, while Djed Spence would move the other way on a dry six-month loan.

However, Bayern are threatening to throw a spanner in those works as they seek to reinforce a defence weakened by a long-term injury to Matthijs De Ligt.

The Bavarians were already light at the back after losing Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez over the summer and failing to replace them adequately.

Tottenham are also in desperate need of reinforcement at the back as injuries and suspensions forced them to give up any hopes of challenging for the title this season.

It became clear that their squad was not meaty enough to challenge, and manager Ange Postecoglou has asked for additions to keep his side in the running for the top four.

The top brass have moved early, signing Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig while identifying and sealing a deal for Dragusin.

The decision now lies in Dragusin’s hands. Does he opt for the Premier League team, or is the lure of playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs, Bayern, too strong to resist?
