Since joining Mainz on loan from Bayern Munich last summer, Gabriel Vidovic has played just 48 minutes in two games.
As a result, the Bavarians have now decided to cut short the 21-year-old’s loan spell.
“Gabriel Vidović is a very talented forward who we hold high hopes for at Bayern,” said FC Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.
“Unfortunately, he didn’t get the playing time we’d hoped for in the first half of the season at Mainz, so we’ve agreed together with the player to terminate the loan early.”
Vidovic has played four games for Bayern’s first team.
