Bayern Munich have tied Mathys Tel down to a new long-term deal.

The German champions confirmed on Wednesday that the 18-year-old French forward has extended his contract from 2027 to 2029.

“We’re delighted that Mathys Tel has extended his contract with Bayern. He’s an important foundation for the future of this team. With him, we already have the next Bayern generation in our squad,” said FC Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl.

“Mathys arrived in Munich as a young player and, at the age of 18, has already gained a lot of important experience at the top level. He will lay down many markers, here at Bayern.”

Tel himself said that the contract extensions “means a lot” to him.

“I’ve already learnt a lot at Bayern, both on and off the pitch. Munich has become a home for me and my family, and the fans are also very important to me,” the young Frenchman commented.

“I can’t be the player I am without them. When you play for Bayern, you always want to win every trophy. I want to score and set up goals, play with heart and energy for Bayern, and give everything for this club and its fans,” said Tel.

Bayern paid a reported €20 million fee to bring Tel to Germany from Stade Rennes back in the summer of 2022.

Since then, the talented striker has gone on to feature 59 times for the club, racking up 13 goals and four assists.
