Bayer Leverkusen head coach Gerardo Seoane believes that Moussa Diaby will remain the Bundesliga club for the forthcoming season despite interest from Newcastle United and PSG.
“We know that things can happen in football that we cannot influence,” Seoane said after B04’s training session. “But I’m convinced that Moussa will stay with us. Moussa is very happy here. He knows what he has at the club and gets the right appreciation from all of us. So I’m not worried that there’s something we don’t know about.”
Sport1 reported last week that Diaby (22) is a top priority for Newcastle United, who are willing to pay between €35m and €44m for the France international. However, Bayer Leverkusen would reportedly only be open to negotiations for a fee exceeding €60m.
Diaby scored 13 and created 12 in 32 Bundesliga games last season, his best season to date since his move from PSG in 2019.
The French winger has three-years remaining on his current deal and wants to play Champions League football, something that Bayer Leverkusen can now offer, which has improved B04’s chances of keeping Diaby.
