Bayer Leverkusen turn down the chance to sign Liverpool star

According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayer Leverkusen have decided not to sign Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton.

It had previously been reported that Die Werkself were exploring the opportunity to sign Morton on loan from Liverpool for the remainder of the season.

With the German champions currently light on midfield options, there was hope that the club would look to add depth before the transfer window ends.

However, after a new set of negotiations with Liverpool and talks with Morton, Die Werkself have elected against making a move for the 21-year-old.

As well as this, Leverkusen will not look to reinforce their midfield options before Friday’s deadline.

It is understood that Xabi Alonso’s side were only willing to loan the midfielder this summer, while also potentially securing an option to purchase Morton on a permanent deal at the end of the campaign.

Nevertheless, Liverpool were only willing to offload the 21-year-old on a permanent deal, stating that €25 million was their valuation.
