After a yellow card challenge by Ruben Vargas on Linton Maina in the 36th minute, Köln’s lively trainer Steffen Baumgart could be heard yelling “Sit down! and “Shut up!” at the Augsburg bench. This is no surprise for the emotional manager, who defended his actions after the game:
“It was a foul. If the whole bench stands up and pretends it’s not a foul, then I have a problem with that.” Baumgart said his words were, “not the fine English way. I won’t be able to contain my emotions, that’s just the way it is. If it was too much, then I’m sorry.”
Through a Steffen Tigges brace, Köln received a huge three points on Matchday 10. They face Mainz on Friday, as The Billy Goats are already out of the DFB-Pokal.
