Back in July, Mainz boss Christian Heidel said the club didn’t want to let Leandro Barreiro enter the 2023/24 season in the final year of his contract.
However, Mainz have yet to renew the Luxembourg international’s contract, leading to speculation that he could leave the club.
According to Bild, a move to Eintracht Frankfurt could be on the cards for the 23-year-old, with Die Adler reportedly monitoring his situation.
The German tabloid claims that Eintracht made an approach for Barreiro last summer, but backed off when Mainz revealed their asking price for the midfielder.
Barreiro has spent his entire career with Mainz, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists in 126 appearances.
