Barcelona’s João Félix confirms his plans for next season

João Félix has this weekend confirmed his desire to return to Barcelona with a view to next season.

Frontman Félix is of course fresh off a season-long loan stint on Barcelona’s books.

Across this stretch, the Portuguese international racked up 44 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with a solid-if-unspectacular ten goals and six assists along the way.

Despite as much, the widespread understanding until very recently was that Félix was in line for an imminent return to base with parent club Atlético Madrid.

This comes with the 24-year-old having failed to convince Xavi of his worthiness of continuing in Barca’s colours beyond the summer.

The change on the bench at the Camp Nou, however, could yet see Félix afforded a 2nd chance, with Hansi Flick understood to be a believer in the talents boasted by the former Benfica prodigy.

And, if the latest comments on the part of Félix himself are anything to go by, then it seems evident that he would like nothing more than to return to Catalunya’s capital for the 2024/25 campaign.

Speaking during an appearance on the Nude Project podcast, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, on Sunday, the gifted attacker was asked for the latest on his future.

And Félix went on to explain:

“There may be movements. I am on loan but it will not depend on me. I have said that I love Barça, it has always been the club of my childhood and I want to stay but it does not depend on me. It depends on many other things. And we will see what can happen.”
