An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Saturday picked up a fitness problem.
The player in question? Sergi Domínguez.
The name of stopper Domínguez has of course become altogether more familiar to those of a Barcelona persuasion over the course of the last couple of weeks.
This comes after the 19-year-old, rewarded for his form at youth level with a call-up to Hansi Flick’s first-team squad, was afforded his senior bow off the bench in the Blaugrana’s La Liga drubbing of Real Valladolid last weekend.
Just a week on, however, Domínguez has been dealt a blow.
The defender was on Saturday night named in Barca Atlètic’s starting XI to face Ourense.
As kick-off in Catalunya approached, however, word was forthcoming that Domínguez had been hooked from Albert Sánchez’s line-up.
This comes owing to a fitness issue suffered during warm-ups.
The Spaniard was replaced by Edu Sánchez in the Barca Atlètic backline.
