A member of the defensive ranks at Barcelona is set to be afforded a surprise starting berth in the club’s next outing.
The player in question? João Cancelo.
Full-back Cancelo was for his part forced to make do with a place on the bench once more on Saturday, as Barcelona made short work of Villarreal in a La Liga clash.
The Portuguese, all told, has been afforded just three starts in all competitions since his winter loan return to Catalunya’s capital.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then Cancelo appears primed to add to his tally of starts this coming Tuesday.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, ahead of a Copa del Rey semi-final 2nd-leg meeting with Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid for Barcelona:
‘João Cancelo is expected to be an attacking option at left-back, playing out of position, ahead of
Alejandro Balde.’
