Manchester United have made an opening offer for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Talks between the parties started on June 1. De Jong originally stated that he wanted to stay at Camp Nou but United have not given up on signing the midfielder, who has a contract with Barca until 2026.
United have made an offer of €60m plus €10m in add-ons but Barcelona have turned the bid down. The clubs are still in talks and the Old Trafford outfit are expected to make a second bid.
Barcelona believe the opening offer is too low and are setting the transfer fee at a minimum of €100m including add-ons, according to ESPN journalist Moises Llorens.
