Barcelona readying ‘formal complaint’ over Atlético Madrid clash

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona are preparing an official complaint to the powers that be in Spanish football.

This comes owing to the club’s disallowed goal in their Copa del Rey meeting with Atlético Madrid on Thursday.

Barcelona are of course fresh off an evening to forget, which saw Hansi Flick’s troops put to the sword by four goals to nil at the Metropolitano.

En route to as much, though, a major decision early in the 2nd-half saw the Blaugrana left feeling altogether hard done by.

As much came upon Pau Cubarsí slotting home from close range, only for a bizarre VAR check lasting seven minutes to culminate in the goal being ruled out for the most unusual of offside calls.

And as alluded to above, Barcelona, it would appear, are not ready to accept this decision lying down.

As per a report from SER’s Què T’hi Jugues:

‘Barça is preparing a formal complaint for the goal disallowed against Cubarsí in the match against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano The club is very upset about the decision and the way it was made It will send the complaint tomorrow Saturday to the RFEF.’
