Barcelona offer Sergi Roberto a contract extension

Barcelona are willing to extend Sergi Roberto’s contract by at least a year, report Mundo Deportivo.

The Reusenc’s current deal at the Nou Camp is set to expire at the end of the season and as things stand, he is able to negotiate pre-contractual agreements with other clubs.

The Blaugrana have offered Roberto a one-year contract extension, which will have the same valuation as his current one. According to the proposed agreement, it can be extended by a further year if he plays certain number of minutes.

The 30-year-old is currently considering the deal. While he is keen to stay at Barcelona, he knows that the extension to 2025 will depend on whether Xavi counts on him next season.

Roberto has been a regular feature at Barça this past half a year, making an appearance in 18 out of Barcelona’s 29 games played this season.

However, with Jules Koundé being Xavi’s first-choice right-back, he may struggle for minutes in the future.

Roberto is one of only four players in Barcelona’s senior squad from Catalonia.
