Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig has an agreement in principle with LA Galaxy, according to Relevo’s Albert Rogé.
With the final details still to be finalised, Barça are working on a deal in which they would keep a buy-back option or percentage of any future sale.
A deal would have to be reached soon as the MLS registration period ends on August 4. As reported by Diario AS, former Barcelona academy player Víctor Vázquez has also helped influence Puig’s decision to play in MLS.
Several Serie A sides were reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old, but no formal offers were made.
In May, Barcelona manager Xavi revealed that he has sat down with four or five players at the club this week to discuss their futures.
Riqui Puig, Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite are among those not in his plans for the coming season.
“I have already spoken to four or five players to make decisions. That’s what I’m here for, I have to make decisions.
“I’ve been talking to the players who won’t continue so that I can find a solution in time. You have to be honest, that’s very important,” Xavi said.
