Barcelona managerial target Thomas Tuchel has head turned by Manchester United

La Liga giants Barcelona will be forced to battle it out with another of European football’s biggest clubs, if they hope to bring Thomas Tuchel in as the club’s next head coach.

That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who have today provided a fresh insight into the future of the German tactician.

The name of Bayern Munich boss Tuchel has of course taken its place front and centre in the spotlight in Barcelona over the course of the last 48 hours.

As much comes after the board at the Allianz Arena announced their decision to part ways with Tuchel upon the season’s close.

This, in turn, means that the former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain headmaster will be free to negotiate with any club he so chooses with a view to the 2024/25 campaign.

And one such club expected to express a keen interest in his services comes in the form of the aforementioned Barcelona.

With president Joan Laporta eager to appoint a German as the outbound Xavi’s replacement this summer, Tuchel is understood to have joined Hansi Flick as a leading candidate to take his place in the Blaugrana dugout.

Not only that, but the 50-year-old himself is understood to be more than keen to test his talents in La Liga.

And yet, as alluded to above, if Laporta and co. do have genuine aspirations of landing Tuchel, they may need to fight for his signature.

This comes amid confirmation that the tactician is also being courted by one of the heavyweights of the Premier League.

As per Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Tuchel ‘is definitely looking at Manchester United’ as his next landing spot.

The one-time defender is of the opinion that he has unfinished business in England, and can therefore ‘well imagine’ taking up the reins at Old Trafford.

Should Erik ten Hag fail to guide United to a top-4 finish in the Premier League come the season’s close, a battle, in turn, could well be on the cards for Tuchel’s services.
