The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are in ongoing dialogue, over a potential deal for a member of the midfield ranks at Chelsea.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Carney Chukwuemeka as the player in question.
Youngster Chukwuemeka first saw his name take its place in the chatter surrounding Barcelona earlier in the summer.
This came after word was forthcoming that the Englishman had been added to the Blaugrana’s list of targets, amid their search for reinforcements in the middle of the park.
With the focus of Deco and co. having since shifted towards additions in the attacking third, though, links with Chukwuemeka had gone somewhat quiet of late.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, Barca’s interest has not been brought to an end.
In fact, quite the contrary appears to be the case.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Carney Chukwuemeka is very well placed on Barça’s agenda if the club finally decides to go to the market in search of a midfielder.’
Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, as things stand, is not actively seeking fresh blood in the middle of the park.
However, in the case of the German requesting as much before the transfer window is out, Chukwuemeka is seen as a leading option.
‘The Chelsea player is liked by Barça for his dynamic and versatile profile,’ it is added.
So much so that Deco and his team have reopened talks with both the board at Stamford Bridge, and Chukwuemeka’s entourage, ‘to sound out the operation’.
