Last summer, Brighton & Hove Albion were reportedly keen to sign both Said and Malek El Mala from 1. FC Köln, but the deal fell through at an advanced stage.

Nevertheless, the Premier League outfit continue to monitor the brothers’ development and regularly send scouts to watch them, with Said El Mala their main focus, according to Sky Germany.

While a move in the upcoming winter transfer window isn’t currently on the agenda, Brighton could make another attempt to sign the two brothers next summer, the German broadcaster reports.

Köln are in a strong negotiating position regarding 20-year-old Said El Mala, who extended his contract until 2031 after his proposed move to Borussia Dortmund fell through.

His 21-year-old brother Malek, who scored on his Bundesliga debut in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with 1. FC Union Berlin, is also under contract until 2031.
