La Liga giants Barcelona have identified the club’s leading free agent target for the summer of 2025.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Lille star Jonathan David as the player in the sights of the Blaugrana.
Frontman David, for his part, is a man in-demand with a view to next season.
As much comes with the Canadian international, who has long stood as one of the premiere goalscorers in French football, set to see his terms with Lille come to a close.
David, in turn, is understood to have made his way onto the wishlists of a number of leading Premier League clubs.
As per a report from the aforementioned Sport, though, Barcelona are ready to compete with any and all rival suitors, to ensure that the 24-year-old ends up in La Liga.
Deco and co. are currently on the lookout for a cut-price alternative to the aging Robert Lewandowski for the 2025/26 campaign.
And David ‘is the undisputed number 1 on this list of preferences because the rest of the ‘9’s whose contracts are ending are not even close to his performance or are already over thirty and it would not make much sense to bring them in with Lewy’s continuity.’
