Despite the offer from Chelsea, Barcelona are still hopeful that they will be able to sign Jules Koundé from Sevilla during this transfer window, as communicated by Mundo Deportivo.
Last Thursday, Chelsea submitted an offered valued €64.7 million for the French defender. However, they are still waiting for a response from the Andalucían club.
Xavi has made Koundé his number-one transfer target and the club’s management are trying to figure out a way to bring the player to Barcelona.
Even though the Catalan club is Koundé’s preferred destination, Barcelona’s problematic financial situation may mean that they cannot meet Chelsea’s offer.
As reported yesterday, Íñigo Martínez could be a viable alternative if the Koundé transfer falls through.
