Barcelona fans send Lewandowski plea to Xavi after Ferran & Lamine Yamal shine vs Real Betis

The Champions League

Barcelona’s supporters have flooded to social media on Sunday evening, to send a message to boss Xavi Hernández, regarding his choices in attack.

Barca, of course, were back in action a short time ago.

Fresh off a return to winning ways in the Copa del Rey in midweek, the Blaugrana made the trip to the Estadio Benito Villamarín, for a La Liga meeting with Real Betis.

Xavi and co. headed into proceedings in the knowledge that a tough test likely lay in store, with Betis unbeaten at home across the season to date.

When all was said and done, though, the hosts’ streak came undone, as Barca ran out 4-2 victors.

Ferran Torres proved himself the star of the show, notching a hat-trick, alongside the assist for the visitors’ other goal on the night.

Fellow attackers Lamine Yamal, and substitutes João Félix and Vitor Roque all impressed, too, Félix getting himself on the scoresheet and Lamine terrorising Betis’ backline all evening.

And yet, amid the Catalans’ flowing frontline, one member of Xavi’s squad struggled once more.

The player in question? Robert Lewandowski.

Frontman Lewandowski failed to register a single shot at goal at the Benito Villamarín, hooked for Vitor Roque on the hour mark as a result.

Amid what has proven an underwhelming season all told for the Polish veteran, calls have in turn begun to mount for Xavi to relegate ‘Lewa’ to the bench permanently, examples of which can be found below:
