Barcelona are interested in signing Rúben Neves from Wolverhampton Wanderers, report Fabrizio Romano and Marca.
Sergio Busquets’ contract is set to expire at the Nou Camp in June 2023 and the player has not indicated yet that he wants to extend his stay with his boyhood club.
As Barcelona await Busquets’ decision, the Catalan outfit are considering possible replacements who could fill the void left by Barça’s captain if he chooses to depart at the end of the season.
Barcelona have identified Neves as an alternative to Busquets. When asked about the topic on radio network Cadena SER, the Blaugrana’s president Joan Laporta chose not to comment on the issue.
The arrival of Neves to the Mediterranean coast may be more likely that many think as Laporta has a good relationship with the Portuguese midfielder’s agent Jorge Mendes.
Mendes is aware of Barcelona’s economic situation and should be able to craft a deal if Neves is keen on moving to the Nou Camp.
