La Liga giants Barcelona are giving consideration to a move for a free agent midfielder.
That’s according to Barca insider Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport, who points towards Adrien Rabiot as the player in question.
The brass at the Camp Nou, of course, have been forced to kick their search for reinforcements in the middle of the park back into gear over the last 24 hours.
This comes after midfield starlet Marc Bernal was condemned to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 17-year-old suffered a torn ACL in his left knee, expected to spend the best part of the next 12 months out of action as a result.
Ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, Barcelona have therefore kickstarted a last-minute search for fresh blood.
In the case of as much failing to bear fruit before the window slams shut, though, alternative options are already being sought.
And the aforementioned Rabiot is one player whose signing is being taken into real consideration.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘If FC Barcelona manage to comply with the 1:1 financial fair play rule, the club could undertake this operation within two or three weeks if the French international has not yet signed for another club.’
