The latest comments on the part of Barcelona head coach Xavi, regarding his side’s path ahead in the Champions League, have piqued widespread attentions in Spain.
This comes after Xavi confirmed his hope that Barca go on to face off against Atlético Madrid in the competition’s semi-finals.
The Blaugrana, of course, faced off against Diego Simeone’s Atléti just last night, romping to an eventual 3-0 La Liga triumph at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Speaking to the media post-match, Xavi was then greeted by Rojiblancos captain Koke, giving rise to a warm embrace, and humorous exchange between the pair.
“You don’t stop running, bastard!” the former exclaimed, donning a wry smile during an interview with DAZN, as cited by Mundo Deportivo.
Koke responded by asking Barca’s headmaster how he is doing, with Xavi having assured: “Good, good, better now.”
And yet, it was the ensuing comments laid out by the latter upon Koke’s exit from the media area which have since truly turned heads.
As much comes with Xavi having revealed his hope that both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid go on to advance from their respective Champions League quarter-final draws, to face off for a spot in the competition’s showpiece:
“I have a very good relationship with Koke, we were teammates and I wish him luck. I hope we can see each other in the near future, in the Champions League. Both teams would be lucky.”
