Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to battle out for Lorient’s talented prospect Eli Junior Kroupi, as per Diario Sport.
Rising through the youth ranks of Lorient, the 17-year-old has been making huge waves in Ligue 1 this season, showcasing his world-class potential through brilliant performances.
Having made his professional debut only in June this year, Junior Kroupi has quickly grown into an integral member of Regis Le Bris’ side, racking up three goals and two assists in eight appearances this season.
His best-ever performance came in the 3-3 draw against Lyon, where he scored a double.
In addition to his precocious talent, Junior Kroupi’s standout attribute is his versatility, as he can operate at his best in positions like centre-forward, No.10 and left-wing.
Hence, it comes as little surprise that he has been drawing comparisons with his compatriot and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Junior Kroupi’s stock will only soar if he keeps on growing by leaps and bounds. Moreover, It wouldn’t be long before European heavyweights knock on Lorient’s door for the wonderkid.
Spanish giants Barca and Madrid have battled for some of the best talents in the globe for years, and they are looking to continue it with Junior Kroupi.
Madrid, in particular, have frequently explored the French market in recent years, as was the case with the acquisitions of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Ferland Mendy.
Meanwhile, Lorient have no intentions of selling the French teenager and are looking to hand him an improved contract, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2026.
