Former Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey claims Bayern Munich wanted to sign him as a replacement for Arjen Robben during his first season in Germany.
But the move didn’t happen because Leverkusen didn’t want to let him go at the time, according to Bailey, who eventually left BayArena to join Aston Villa.
“We could have made a big move to Bayern Munich,” Bailey told the Let’s Be Honest podcast.
“Bayern came to my house to sign paperwork and all of that and Leverkusen were never going to let me go. That was my first season.
“They wanted me to replace Arjen Robben and Leverkusen never answered because they said next year will be our year and they wanted me in their team so it never happened.”
