Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Wednesday night taken firm aim at his players.
As much comes owing to their performance in the club’s latest outing.
Real of course marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to France for a Champions League meeting with Ligue 1 outfit LOSC Lille.
Los Blancos headed into proceedings in search of a return to winning ways, after surrendering a hard-fought advantage en route to a 1-1 Madrid Derby stalemate with Atlético at the weekend.
When all was said and done on Wednesday, however, things only went from bad to worse for the Spanish champions.
Owing to a solitary goal on the part of Jonathan David, it was Lille who emerged from the matchup with a historic three point points.
And one individual who was left altogether unimpressed by Real Madrid’s efforts en route to as much, as alluded to above, was manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Drawn on his side’s showing on the back of the full-time whistle on Wednesday, Ancelotti did not hold back, in taking firm aim at his players:
“It’s difficult to analyse this game. We were bad in every aspect. Lille were better and deserved to win. We could have drawn at the end but it wouldn’t have been deserved.
“We didn’t create, the possession was slow, no ideas. Our forwards need a more vertical game. This can be a problem when you’re slow.
“This was a bad game. We showed a bad image, bad feelings. No excuses, we were bad. We must improve.”
