Robin Fellhauer scored the fastest goal in Bundesliga history to put FC Augsburg ahead against Bayern Munich at the WWK-Arena on Saturday.
After Bayern kicked off, the ball was played back to Manuel Neuer, whose attempted pass was intercepted by Fellhauer. The Augsburg midfielder proceeded to calmly slot the ball into the net, with the Bundesliga confirming the strike as the quickest goal ever scored in Germany’s top flight.
Fellhauer found the net after just eight seconds, breaking the joint record previously held by Karim Bellarabi and Kevin Volland. Bellarabi scored after nine seconds for Bayer Leverkusen in the 2014/15 season, while Volland matched that time for Hoffenheim in the 2015/16 campaign.
Interestingly, Volland also scored his record-equalling goal against Neuer, giving Hoffenheim an early lead against Bayern.
