Atlético Madrid are keen to tie down Diego Simeone until 2027, as reported by Relevo.
The Argentine coach is currently contracted to Atlético until the end of this season and after a good start to the campaign, Atléti have decided that they want to tempt their manager to take his spell at the club to beyond 12 years.
Simeone has been manager of Los Colchoneros since December of 2011 and he has achieved success that no one would have thought possible at the beginning of his tenure.
The exact figures of the new deal that Simeone will be offered are not confirmed, but Simeone is expected to have to take a small salary cut. This is to offset the loss of Champions League money due to Atlético’s unexpected early drop out from the competition last season.
Simeone has led his team to 16 points from a possible 21 in La Liga this season, with only one loss. They play Feyenoord in the Champions League on Wednesday and are searching for their first win in this season’s competition.
